Many of them are based on the reaction from recording studios when Altec came out with the smaller magnet 605 series The only specs I've seen published for the 804a and the 806a appear to have the same weight, dimensions, gauss flux, pressure sensitivity, and frequency response (although the photo in the AK link appears to indicate some slight differences)
